The Blizzard of Oz is known as one of the first mainstream voices of metal, but it wasn’t until his MTV reality show that he entered into the pop culture zeitgeist.
On the other hand, the band Earth Wind & Fire had spent the 70’s and a chunk of the 80’s as an everybody-friendly act that would never offend a person’s sensibilities.
Enter DJ Cumberbund…the maestro of mash ups!
He had the brilliant idea of taking the biggest iconic tracks from the two artists and making them into one.
Once again, Cumberbund nails it!

The Eagles have found their replacement for Glen Frey, and it’s Glenn’s son Deacon Frey!
In an interview yesterday with Dallas sports radio station KTCK, Don Henley said:
“Deacon is a very talented young man, and he seems to be up for the task. There’s an old system both in Eastern and Western culture called the guild system, where the father is the master and the son is the apprentice. The trade, the craft, the business is handed down from father to son. I think it’s the only appropriate way to carry on.”
You may remember The Eagles are doing those two weekend [More]

Billy Joel has been bringing a lot of guest stars onstage during recent gigs, and Saturday’s show at Dodger Stadium was no exception.
Axl Rose came out for two songs: “Big Shot” and AC/DC’s “Highway to Hell”. Billy has actually been doing “Highway” for a few years, but he usually has a roadie named “Chainsaw” do lead vocals.
Rose wasn’t the only guest star that night. Pink, who’s been rumored to be working on new music with Joel, also made an appearance to help Billy on “New York State of Mind”, and sing her own song, “Try”

Billy Joel hasn’t released a new studio album since “River of Dreams” in 1993. In that time he’s only released two original, non-instrumental songs: “All My Life” and “Christmas in Fallujah”, both in 2007.
Billy actually says he frankly isn’t all that interested in where pop music is these days. He also says his standards are so high that writing songs has become excruciating:
“I’d turn into a caveman . . . walk around kicking things.”
There has been an indication however, that he might come out of his creative hibernation to work with someone who’s a little more current.
Billy told the “L.A. [More]

Elton John has canceled nine upcoming shows, including his remaining dates at Caesar’s Palace in Vegas, and he has a good excuse: He almost DIED.
He recently performed a series of shows in South America, and he became “violently ill” on the flight back. It turned out he’d contracted a “harmful and unusual” bacterial infection. His rep quickly took the mic:
“Upon returning to the U.K., his doctors admitted him to hospital, where he underwent immediate treatment to remove the infection . . . Infections of this nature are rare and potentially deadly.”
Fortunately, it sounds like Elton will be all right. He was [More]

Bruce Springsteen has announced he’s got more classic concerts queued up for release – making public a professional recording of his 2008 show in St. Louis.
The reason this show stuck out for the Boss is made apparent in a blurb written about the performance on his website:
“On the 2007-08 Magic tour, fans began bringing song-request signs. Bruce seemed to revel in the challenge, while the suggestions also appeared to inspire him to resurrect songs he hadn’t played in decades. There’s no finer show to capture this fan-artist dynamic than this outstanding performance in St. Louis on 8/23/2008 including the surprise [More]
