Metallica Return To The Grammys With A Promise For A “Very Special & Unique Performance”

By Aaron

The last time Metallica took the stage at the Grammy Awards they lived up to the hype by inviting classic pianist Lang Lang for an amazing rendition of the song “One”

Four years later James, and the boys return to the award show and they’re promising to pull off something “Very special and unique”.

After the last few years of the Grammys nominating what most feel are non-Rock acts to the best rock category, Metallica are putting their flag in the ground proudly nominated in the Best Rock Song category for “Hardwired” from their most recent album Hardwired… to Self-Destruct.

You may remember the first time the band played one on the show back in 1989 – the same year they were infamously beaten out by Jethro Tull in the Best Hard Rock / Heavy Metal Recording category. After widespread criticism, the Grammys split that award into two separate categories the following year, and Metallica won the Best Metal Performance award the next three years.

You can watch the Grammys on CBS Sunday, Feb. 12
